He married Athelia Permelia Willey June 17, 1866 in Dearborn County, IN. They had two daughters and a son Oda. Zacharia died in 1927 of cerebral hemorhage w/paralysis right side and speech. He is buried in Santa Fe, IN cemetery with a Civil War tombstone, with his wife buried next to him (no stone) and his son Oda (WWI veteran) buried nearby.
