ERCIL DARVIN "DOC" EVANS died Sunday, December 5, 2004 at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, CA. due to complications following heart surgery. Doc Evans was born March 28, 1931 in El Paso, Texas to Luther Rex Evans and Mary Inez Nichols Evans. He married Frances "Fran" Nelson on July 26, 1952 in El Paso, Texas. Doc was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Madie Earl Hufford of El Paso. He is survived by his wife, Fran Nelson Evans of Bayfield, CO, his brother, Gerald Ray Evans of El Paso, his children, Rebecca Jenkins of San Marcos, CA, Mark Evans of Bayfield, Colorado, Matt Evans of Yorba Linda, CA. and his grandchildren, Kaycee Evans of Pacific Beach, CA., Krista Evans of Durango, CO, Change Jenkins of San Marcos, CA., and Quan and Megan Evans of Yorba Linda, CA. Doc served as a Marine, and worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad out of El Paso for 10 years. He moved to Bayfield, CO in 1967 where he was employed by La Plata Electric Co-op for 22 years and served on the Bayfield Town Board for 5 years. Doc was a Dallas Cowboys fan, an avid golfer, and took great pleasure in flyer his Cessna 182. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique and classic cars. Following retirement he and Fran spent winters in Sunsites - Pearce, Arizona, where they established a golf driving range. Cremation was performed and a private Memorial Service followed in Pacific Beach, CA. A celebration of life will be held in the summer of 2005 in Bayfield, Colorado.

Ercil Darvin Evans died Sunday, Dec. 5, 2004, at the University of California, Los Angeles medical center after complications from heart surgery. He was 73.
Mr. Evans was born March 28, 1931, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Luther Rex and Mary Inez Evans.
On July 25, 1952, he married Frances "Fran" Nelson in El Paso.
Mr. Evans served as a U.S. Marine and worked on the Southern Pacific Railroad out of El Paso. He moved to Bayfield in 1967 and was an employee of La Plata Electric Association for 22 years. He also served on the Bayfield Town Board.
Mr. Evans was a Dallas Cowboy fan, an avid golfer and took great pleasure in flying his plane. He also enjoyed collecting and showing antique cars.
His family said he will be remembered as a loving husband and a nurturing father and grandfather.
Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Frances "Fran" Nelson Evans of Bayfield; his brother, Gerald Ray Evans of El Paso; his daughter, Rebecca Jenkins of Oceanside, Calif.; two sons, Mark Evans of Bayfield and Matt Evans of Yorba Linda, Calif.; and five grandchildren.
Cremation has occurred, and a private memorial service will be held later in Bayfield.
