Lucille moved with her family to Furnas County, Nebraska in 1909. She grew up in the Spring Green area southwest of Beaver City where she attended District 3 and District 52 rural schools. After graduating from Beaver City High School in 1926, she taught school for several years at the West rural school south of Wauneta, at District 75 south of Holbrook and at Districts 92 and 97, both south of Beaver City. She also attended Kearney State Teachers College in 1930.
She was united in marriage to Emery Allen Quinn on December 8, 1928, at Norton, Kansas. One daughter, Laura Jeanine, was born to this union 23 years later. Lucille and Emery also raised a foster child, Donna Kneedler, for 9 years.
Emery and Lucille lived and farmed near Beaver City for 30 years, moving into town in 1959, although they continued to farm southwest of town. She worked for several years at the Mayo and Herren Nursing Homes, the Beaver City Manor and the local café. Emery passed away on June 26, 1976, and Lucille continued to live in Beaver City.
Lucille enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies and interests, but spending time with family and friends brought her the greatest joy. Helping others was always an important part of her life. She enjoyed volunteering at the Beaver City Senior Center and Manor.
