FLORENCE ELIZABETH NICHOLS
Florence Elizabeth Nichols, the third of six daughters born to William Thomas and Laura Bell (Campbell) Wells, was born on July 31, 1910, on a farm southwest of Beaver City, Nebraska and passed away on September 18, 1993, at the Redwood Christian Convelescent Home in Napa, CA at the age of 83 years.
Florence was raised and attended rural schools in the Spring Green area southwest of Beaver City and attended Beaver City High School.
She married George L. Brouhard of Beaver City on April 30, 1928, at Phillipsburg, KS. They moved later that year to Hollywood, CA where their son, Robert Eugene, was born. A few years later they returned to Beaver City and moved to Lexington, Nebraska in 1936. Four years later, they moved to California. Most of the remainder of her life was spent in California except a brief period after marrying Jack Nichols in Salt Lake City, Utah while he was in the Army in WWII. She also spent much of the 1960's in Nebraska, living in Lexington, Gothenburg, Holdrege and Oxford before returning again to California, living in Vallejo and Napa.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Brouhard and wife, Maxine, of Springdale, OH; grandchildren Denise, Diana, Bill, Jim and Tom and their families; two sisters: Lucille Quinn of Beaver City, NE and Dorothy LaCroix and husband, Jim, of Willis, TX; nieces, nephews and a number of friends.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter Sharron in 1981; a great-grandson in 1974; her parents; and three sisters Ada Wells, Doris Wells and Mamie Trobough.
A graveside service and inurnment was held May 12, 1994, at Mount Hope Cemetery at Beaver City, Nebraska with Pastor Matt Wentz of the First Christian Church in Beaver City, officiating.
