He is listed with his grandparents, John and Martha Herron in Jan 1920, at age 3 1/2.
He was placed in Gordon Children’s Home in 1922, along with his brothers, when his parents separated and was released to Wm. C. Shaw on 13 April 1931.
In 1930 he is listed at the Shelby County (Gordon) Children's Home at age 14, and listed with his brother Raymond.
Chester is listed as a Private (24, IN) in the Quartermaster Corps at Fort Devens. It says he was living in Frankfort IN in 1935.

After the Army, he is listed back in Frankfort in 1952-54, working as a mechanic and married to Rachel.
He was listed as living in California when his mother died in 1972. Other records list him as living in Las Vegas.
He was living in Florida in 1997, and is buried in the Florida National Cemetery.

Mrs. Rachel I. Wells
FRANKFORT Mrs. Rachel Irene Wells, 74, of Delphi Avenue, Frankfort, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday in Lafayette Healthcare Center, Lafayette. She was born July 27, 1910, in Colfax, and had lived in Frankfort for 33 years. Mrs. Wells was a seamstress and had been employed at Jules Simon Co. She attended Apostolic Bible Church. - Surviving are two daughters, Catherine Hale of Houston, Texas, and Carolyn Krouse of Fort Myers, Fla.; and three sisters, Mrs. Harvey F. Igney of Frankfort, and Mrs. Glenna Tippward and Mrs. Lee A. Butler, both of Arizona.
