In 1930 he is listed as living with the family of his half sister, Sylvia (Warner) Beans.
Was inducted into the Navy Reserve from Nebraska during WWII as a Fireman 1st Class (Service #8721770); was killed and his body was not recovered. He was awarded a Purple Heart, and a monument was erected with his name at Fort William McKinley, Manila, The Philippines. His widow was Mrs. Delia Margaret Hitchcock, who lived in Barstow, CA.

FIc L. S. Hitchcock Is Killed in Pacific
F1c Lawrence S. Hitchcock, 30 son of - Charles Hitchcock, 2581 Harney Street, was killed In action October 29, in the Philippine, area in a ship explosion, according to word from the Navy Department received by his father. A graduate of Whittier Junior High School in Lincoln, he had been employed by the Omaha Storage and Fairmont Creamery Companies before entering the service October 27, 1943. He had been on active duty for the last six months.
Survivors: Wife, Delia; daughter, Sharon; two sons, Kenny and Larry of Barstow, Cal.; brothers Riley of Baltimore, MD. and Ed of California; sisters Mrs. Mae Painter, Mrs. Olga Napier, Mrs. Myrtle Smalley, and Clara, all of Omaha; Mrs. Pearl Hitchcock of Lincoln, Mrs. Sylvia Beans, Mrs. Dorothy Adel, both of Cozad, Neb. and Mrs. Eva Barta of Eddysville, Neb.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday at 2 p. m. at the home of his sister, Mrs. Painter, with Dr. A. L. Cole of the First Christian Church in charge.
