Living in Sault Ste. Marie when he married Emma Verna Dyer (his cousin, once removed) of Port Hope on 9 Jun 1920 in the Methodist Church there. They are listed in the 1921 census, with him listed as of Scotch origin, and her of Irish origin; and his sister Lillian living with them. He is listed as a steelcham, and Lillian as a teacher.
He is listed as an Insurance Agent in the 1949 Durham voters list.

Fred Wesley Wells, in his 79th year; son of the late William Wesley Wells and Mary Alice Macintosh; beloved husband of Irma Streebing and Verna Dyer by first marriage; loving brother of Kay (Mrs. E. J. Parker) and Ruby (Mrs. Howard Jackson) both of Ottawa, and Helen (Mrs. H. S. Pye) of Sherbrooke, Que; predeceased by sister Lillian (Mrs W. C. Sinclair) and brother Harold. Funeral was held at the Ross Funeral Home, Port Hope Monday, March 29, 2 pm. Interment in Port Hope Union Cemetery in the Spring.
