Daughter of Charles Thomas Shelton and Lillian Laughunn. When Florence was about two years old her mother died in childbirth, so Florence was raised by her grandparents until she was twelve years old.
After marrying Lewis, she had a baby girl on 22 May 1920 in Eltopia, WA but it was a premature birth and only lived a few hours then died. Florence died of Pulmonary Tuberculosis later that year.

Listed in Leroy, WA in 1920 as a grain farmer with his wife Florence E. (19, IA). By 1930 he had moved to Yacolt and is listed as (re)married 2 years to Maud R. (25, OR) and working as a butcher in a logging camp. His name is spelled Louis in 1930.
They were living in Vernonia in 1940, with him still listed as a butcher (46, WA) in the logging camp. His family consisted of Maude (35, OR) and children Martha R. (9), Lester L. (7), William O. (6), Patricia K. (4), Margaret A. (2), and Ruby F. (9 mos).
His headstone lists his death as 3 Sept 1958, and says he was a PVT in the 90 Spruce Squadron in WWI.
