Married Anna Louise Hatcher (b. 16 Mar 1922, Kirksville MO) on 14 Feb 1942 in Adrian, MO.
Children: Mary Constance, Elizabeth Ann, and Rebecca Kay.
Omar served in the U.S. Air Force (Ground) during WWII. Starting his enlistment as Private, he was promoted through all the grades up to and including Captain. His last duties were at Berri, Italy. Before entering the service, Omar learned the passenger elevator maintenance at Otis Elevator Co., St. Joseph, MO.
After returning from his service in Italy, he was assigned by Otis to local management, maintenance and sales, Jefferson City, MO. He took early retirement and moved to Florida, and lived in Ocala in 1978.

OCALA, FLORIDA: Omar K. "Bud" Colwell, 70, died November 14, 1980 in Ocala. He was born June 24, 1910, and was a native of Elwood, KS. He was a founder of the National Silica Corp. and a founding co-partner of Mid-Florida Mining. He was a former district service manager for the Otis Elevator Company. He was a U.S. Army officer during World War II, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the Blinded Veterans Association. He was chairman of the Board of Trustees of the First Christian Church. Survivors include his wife, Anna Hatcher Colwell; three daughters, Mrs. Mary C. Post of Ocala, Rebecca K. Colwell of Charlotte, NC and Elizabeth Colwell of Atlanta, GA; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Roes of Deltona and Mrs. Monette Lafoon of Valley Center, CA; two brothers, Harry Colwell of Ocala and Merle Colwell of Prescott, AZ; a grandchild; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Wilma Hatcher of St. Joseph MO; and his nieces and nephews. Services were held at the First Christian Church. Interment was at Highland Memorial Park in Ocala by Hiers Funeral Home.
