Listed at age 5 with just his mother and grandparents in 1860, shortly before his mother’s death in 1862.
Not yet found in 1870 census, but he was married to Delphina “Della” Strain in Chicago on 13 Jun 1878, and then shows in the 1880 Chicago census as a plumber (25, OH) with Delphina (25, NY) and son Frank (1, IL).
It appears that he died in 1889 in McHenry Co, IL, as there is an Alfred Potter age 35 buried there, and his son Frank is listed in the 1900 census, working as a servant in Richmond, McHenry Co, IL at age 21.
