Misc. Notes
It is said that he was a descendant of Pierre Perrine, of Lower Charante, France, who had fled from the persecution consequent on the revocation of the Edict of Nantes by Louis Quatorze in 1685, carrying with them only the wealth that they could conceal about their persons, Pierre and his family embarked at La Rochelle, and by way of the Netherlands found their way to England, from whence Pierre's descendant Daniel came over to America.
Daniel Perrin sailed from the Isle of Jersey in the ship “Philip” with Gov. Philip Carteret, a relative of Sir Geo. Carteret, and with others arrived in New York harbor July 29, 1665. Marie Thorel was on the same ship. Daniel and Marie were married Feb. 18, 1666. This marriage was said to be the first solemnized on the Elizabethtown Plantation after the arrival of the Governor. They moved to Staten Island and settled at Smoaking Point (name now obsolete). Maria Thorel was Daniel's 1st wife, and bore him 7 children.
In a deed dated 1696, Elizabeth, second wife, is mentioned, by whom Daniel had daughters, Sarah, Elizabeth and Marie or Mary. The two first named married _______ Stillwell.
