Calif Death index lists his birth as 21 Sep (and in another country), while the NY Passenger lists show 20 Sept.
Listed with his parents, age 8, in the 1880 SF census.
In 1900 he is listed as Alexander Jarvey (28, CA), a meat buyer born Oct 1871. He is single and a boarder with the Lineharr family.
Living in San Francisco and single, working as a paper merchant in 1910, and as a broker of stocks and bonds in 1920.
Returned to New York from a trip abroad on 5 May 1924 aboard the SS America from Southhampton, and was living on Hyde St in SF and single at the time.
He apparently went to France, married, had children, and then returned to the US in 1932. It indicates that he obtained a passport #474 in Nice, France on 4 Feb 1932, prior to his departure. His name on the 1932 passenger list is written as Alexander Stirling Jarvie - his grandmother's maiden name, and where they came from in Scotland.
He is listed back in San Francisco in 1940, as a bookeeper (68, CA) for an insurance company, living on Grove St. With him are his wife Mary (40) and children Monique (12) and Phillipe (11), all born in France. It says he completed 2 yrs of college and had been living there since before 1935.
Died of pneumonia in San Francisco Hospital.
