Enrolled as Elmer C. Wells in the Air Corps at Camp Atterbury, Columbus on 29 Jul 1941 with "Enlistment for Hawaiian Department" At the time, it said he was living in Marion Co, IN. Released 30 Aug 1945
He is listed in the 1950 census as a patient in the VA Hospital, Grant Co, IN. Listed as never married, and in the psychotic ward.

Was apparently in the Veterans Hospital at Marion, IN in 1972 when his mother died.

Services for Elmer C. Wells, 56, 3140 Cossell Drive, a disabled World War II Army veteran, will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Flanner and Buchanan Speedway Mortuary. Wells died Friday at home. He was a native of Shelbyville and a four-yeear resident of Indianapolis. Survivors - half-brothers Charles Herron, Virgil Land; half-sister Edith Rose.
