[Obituary] The Herald, Everett WA - 6 March 2022
Ralph passed away on Saturday, Feb 26. He was born to Inez and Ludwig Jacobsen on June 30, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN, one of three children. The family moved to Isle, MN where they had a small farm. After graduation from high school Ralph worked on his uncle's ranch in MT for a short period and then enlisted in the Merchant Marines to serve his country in WWII. After this he worked at a job or two, settling on banking as his career. He married Beverly Stull, the love of his life, who was also from Isle. Together they started a family with a son, Paul. The family then moved to Ballard, WA where another son was born, Carl, who sadly passed at two months. A move to Queen Anne was next. Ralph was a small town guy so when a customer, Chuck Jackson, told him of a banking job opening in Arlington he and the family moved again and he started his job at Citizen's State Bank which was later bought by Sea-First Bank. He was transferred to the Darrington branch where he worked as manager until retirement, commuting from Arlington.
Ralph enjoyed gardening, baking, painting for people and working around his own place. When his grandson Tyler was born in 1984 with a multitude of medical issues he was very involved, making many trips to Children's Hospital in Seattle on Tyler's many visits there. They had a very special relationship. After Beverly died in 1997 he was able to live on his own until 95 years of age, then moving in with Paul and his wife, Lynnea. Ralph was a devout Christian but never pushed it on anyone, His was a "quiet witness". He attended Atonement Free Lutheran Church. The family thanks Pastor Long and visiting pastor Dana for their visits and compassion. Also, thanks for everyone's good thoughts and prayers during the rough times his last couple years. Special thanks to those who were especially faithful with calling and visits; Ken & Jean, Shelley, the Bolyards, Harold, Helen, Carol, Mel & Patty, Pete, Grant & Cheri and former daughter in law, Lynda.
Per Ralph's request, he will be cremated and no service held. A celebration of life may be held at a later date.
