Ole Hilden was the oldest son born to Gilbert Hilden and Kari Stensrud. In April of 1906 12 young people from Watson, Minnesota went to Dickinson, North Dakota to look for homesteads. These were Ole, Herman and Annie Hilden; Hans, Mary and Dorthea Hilden; Hans and Martin Stensrud; and Peter, Julia and Gelina Lyngen and Selma Swenson.
Ole Hilden and Gelina Lyngen came back to Minnesota to be married in March - two years later.
They were retired and living with son Kenneth in the 1940 North Dakota census.
Cheryl Hilden Crook has written extensively about the Hilden and Lyngen families in a book she self published in 2007. Excerpts are included.
