Even though Ole’s last name in the United States is listed as Loken, his last name was initially Olsen. His parents were Ole Svendsen (1826-1902) and Kari Oldsdatter Ondreal (1837-1919), and he is listed with them in the 1875 Norway census.
He started going by Loken once he was in the United States, based on the tradition of being named for the farm where he was born.
He arrived aboard the Parisian, which sailed from Liverpool on 28 Apr 1898 and got to Levis, Canada on May 7th, where he immigrated to the US, with a destination of his cousin Hans Steenstuen(?) in Brookings, Dakota. It said his prior residence was Christiania.
He is listed with the Benson family in 1900 as Ole E. Loken (28, Norway) - immigrated in 1898.
In 1910, Ole is listed as a farmer (33, NOR) who immigrated in 1899 and naturalized, single with 1 boarder.
Listed in 1920 census as a farmer (48, NOR) who immigrated in 1899 and naturalized, with his wife Dora (28), dau Tillie O. (6), Myrtle I. (4yrs 8mos), and Clare S. (1yr 9mos) all born in So Dakota.
He died of influenza in 1922.

Daughter of John Syver Opdahl and Anne Theodora "Dora" Langelnad.
Dora Opdahl is listed in 1900 as the step-daughter (Mar 1894, Dakota Terr) of John and Dora Hendrickson, with her younger sister Evina (3) as well as their 2 Hendrickson children.
Dora Opdahl is liste in the 1905 Minnesota state census as a domestic (12, ND) with the family of Albert Hallick. It states she had been in the state 4 yrs 10 mos, and in the township for only 9 months.
Dora had a daughter Effie Josephine (Dina) Morina Opdahl-Hegstad (1909-2002) - husband/father unknown. And Dora Opdahl is listed as a servant (17, ND) of Mikkel G. and Anna L. Bertelrud in 1910, single with her 2 month old daughter Josephine.
Dora had 5 daughters and a son in total: including Tillia, Myrtle, Carol Sigdestad, and Elroy Loken with husband Ole.
After Ole’s death, she was unable to care for the children and the younger ones were adopted.
Was remarried to Louis Johnson (1874-1966) after the death of Ole, and had daughter Delores Lavon “Della’ Johnson (5 Apr 1924-31 Jul 1995) with him.
Listed in the 1940 census for St Paul, MN as Ruth Johnson (45, SD), with her husband Louis Johnson (59, NOR) a truck driver and daughter Della (16, SD).
She was also buried as Ruth Johnson.
