Mrs. Jean E. Wells, 55, of 1025 State St., was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Lee Memorial Hospital, Fulton. Mrs. Wells lived in Phoenix all her life. She was a Schroeppel town clerk for 11 years. Mrs. Wells retired 11 years ago as receptionist after many years from the Midstate Telephone Company. She was the widow of Glenn D. Wells, who died in 1978. Mrs. Wells was a member of the United Methodist Church of Phoenix, Chapter 172 of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Women's Republican Club. She also served as a Republican committee woman for the Town of Schroeppel. Surviving are a brother, John E. Andrews of Dover, N.J.; two nieces, and a nephew. Services were held Friday, Oct. 29, in the United Methodist Church of Phoenix, the Rev. Richard E. Barton officiating. Burial was in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.

PHOENIX, N.Y. Funeral services for Glenn D. Wells, 48, of 1025 State Street, Phoenix, N.Y., were held Saturday, April 8, 1978, at the Allison, Glanville, Tappan Funeral Home in Phoenix. Mr. Wells was pronounced dead on arrival Wednesday morning, April 5, 1978, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Syracuse, after becoming ill at his home. Surviving are his wife, the former Jean Andrews, his mother, Helen Wells, Massena; two sisters, Mrs. Arthur (Wyona) Kropa, Amsterdam, N.Y.; Mrs. Larry (Maureen) Zeigler, Massena; four brothers, Basil, of Potsdam; Preston, of Massena; Graham, of Phoenix and Emmett, of Baldwinsville, N.Y. Mr. Wells was born in Aultsville, Ont. A former resident of Norwood, he had resided in Phoenix for 14 years. Mr. Wells was employed as an expediter for Carrier Corp of Syracuse. He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army.
