William Joseph McKay Sr., 80, died July 19, 2009, in Fort Pierce. He was born in Indianapolis and lived in Fort Pierce since 1966. Before retirement, he worked for the Miami Herald and the Tribune newspapers as circulation manager. He was a veteran of the Air National Guard, serving during the Korean War. He was a 50-year member of the Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus and a member of the American Legion and of St. Anastasia Catholic Church in Fort Pierce. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Serena M. McKay of Fort Pierce; sons, William McKay Jr. of Fort Pierce and Jerome McKay of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Katherine McKay, Serena Deatley, Christina Garwood and Rose McKay, all of Fort Pierce, and Patricia McKay of Baltimore; brother, Robert McKay of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anastasia Catholic Church, 407 S. 33rd St., Fort Pierce, FL 34947. Services: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. July 24 at St. Anastasia Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Haisley Funeral and Cremation Service.
