Margaret Jane "MJ" Wells, 89, of Phoenix, NY passed away on Friday. She spent over 40 years working as a beautician out of her own home. Margaret Jane spent every Sunday volunteering in the Military Courtesy Room at Hancock Airport, Syracuse. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Graham W. Wells, in 2007; and sister, Helen. Surviving are her daughters Roxanne (Tim) Demo of Phoenix, NY, and Kelda Wells of Toronto, ON; grandchildren, Aaron (Megan) Demo of Loveland, CO and Christopher (Lauren) Demo of McCall, ID; great-grandson, Winston H. Demo; brother, Karl (Kathy) Keller of Canton, NY; and special nieces, Linda, Marie, Kimberly, Jennifer, Erika, Kathleen and their families. Calling hours will be held on Friday, Dec. 6, 4 - 7 PM, followed by a funeral service at 7 PM at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, 431 Main St., Phoenix, NY. Services will be officiated by Rev. Graham Winston Wells, of Whitewood Tract, Phoenix, NY, died Saturday, December 1, 2007. Born March 21, 1924, in Aultsville, Ontario, Canada, he graduated from Potsdam High School and Central City Business School, attended University College and served in the U.S. Navy, WWII, Pacific Theatre, and during the Korean War. He was a retired licensed real estate broker and appraiser, former town of Schroeppel assessor and zoning officer, past president of Oswego County Assessor Association, former village of Phoenix Trustee and member of its Planning Commission. He was a member of Phoenix United Methodist Church, where he served as chairman of the administrative board and was a trustee for many years. He was a 60-year member of the Masonic Callimachus Lodge #369, served as master, was a member of Oswego River Chapter, served as high priest, was a past commander of Horning Fournier Post #418 American Legion, and VFW Post #5540, both in Phoenix. He was predeceased by four brothers, Basil, Preston, Emmett and Glenn. He was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, the former Margaret Jane Keller; daughters, Roxanne (Tim) Demo of Phoenix, NY, and Kelda Wells of Toronto, Canada; grandsons, Aaron Demo of Ft. Collins, CO, and Christopher Demo of Phoenix, NY; two sisters, Wyona (Art) Kropa of Sylvan Beach and Maureen (Larry) Ziegler of Jordan, NY; and several nieces and nephews. Services are 11:30 a.m. this Thursday at Phoenix United Methodist Church, Phoenix, with the Rev. Constance L. Siefert officiating. Calling hours are 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. the same day at the church, located at 49 Jefferson St. Arrangements by Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Inc., Phoenix.
