He then enlisted during the Civil War, but died of disease in 1865; after which Mary filed for his miliary pension benefits.
Listed in 1870 with her son Ezra, as Mary Tibbetts (47, ME) working as a housekeeper for William Rud.
And in 1880, just as in 1870, with her son and working as servant (54, ME) in the household of William Rud.

Served as a Private in the 6th Infantry and 1st Regiment, Company E of the Maine Volunteers during the Civil War and died of disease in Pennsylvania.
