Listed as John H., a farmer with his father and family in the 1881 census, and in the 1901 census; but apparently went by Henry most of his later adult life, as evidenced by his name being listed as Henry John on his death certificate.
In 1911 his is listed near his brother Franklin, with his wife and 8 children, as well as his widowed mother.
After the death of Mary Jane, he was remarried in 1925 to Mary Minerva Hall (not to be confused with his sister, Mary Minerva Wells), who is buried with the Hall family.
He died of arteriosclerosis.
He has a headstone in Williamsburg Old Union cemetery, while his wife is recorded as being buried in Boucks Hill, but both are recorded in Spruce Haven Cem. His second wife is buried in Williamsburg Old Union.
