Mrs. Clarissa Perryman Richards, 93, member of a pioneer Tulsa family, died Wednesday in Claremore Indian Hospital. Her home was at Alsuma.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Alsuma Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, with the Kennard Funeral Home of Broken Arrow in charge.
Mrs. Richards was the daughter of Alvin and Mary Jane Hodge. Her father was one of Tulsa's first
judges. A native of Indian Territory. As a young girl she married Lewis N. Perryman, an early Tulsa settler. She later married Jack T. Bell, for whom the Bellview addition in Tulsa is named. Her third husband was B. P. Richards, a retired farmer, who died five years ago.
Mrs. Richards was a part Creek Indian. Her allotment once included 160 acres of the present Bellview addition, the area from Hillcrest Medical Center south to 14th street.
Her father owned 160 acres of property which now is downtown Tulsa. He also owned the present site of Oaklawn Cemetery, which later was deeded to the city of Tulsa. In early Tulsa days, First Street was known as Hodge Street in honor of Mrs. Richards' father.
Mrs. Richards served as a Creek Indian interpreter for Oklahoma courts during Indian Territory and early statehood days.
Surviving are three sons, Nathan W. of Cushing, John W. of 1222 N. Columbia Ave., Tulsa and Aaron Bell of Broken Arrow; four daughters, Mrs. Addie Buck of 916 N. Main St., Mrs. Flossie Shook and Mrs. Lillian Strader, both of Broken Arrow, and Mrs. Nellie McKee of Muskogee; two sisters, Mrs. Adaline Orcutt of Coweta and Mrs. Mary Jane DeLong of Stilwell; a brother, David M. Hodge of Bloomington, Calif.; 24 grrandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
