Honesdale Man Shot
A domestic quarrel ended in death for a Honedale man early Saturday. State police have arrested the woman he was living with, charging her with his murder and three other crimes.
John R. Canfield, 39, of 246 Irving St, Honesdale, was pronounced dead at 4:20 a.m. by the Wayne County Coroner. He died of two gunshot wounds to the chest.
The accused, Reva Mae Dorsey, 45, of Lake Cadjaw, Honedale, Rte 6, was charged with murder, voluntary manslaughter, aggravated assult and recklessly endangering another person. She was released on $10,000 bail.
According to state police at Honesdale, the murder happened when the couple returned to the woman’s home at about 3:30 a.m. Saturday and began quarreling. Police have charged her with getting a .38 caliber revolver out of the bedroom dresser drawer and allegedly firing it twice at Canfiled’s chest.

Reva Tallman Dorsey, 77 of Honesdale, died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Born on January 1, 1932 in Brackenridge, PA, she was the daughter and last surviving family member of the late Guy and Margaret Bengel Tallman. She was a long-time resident of Honesdale and was employed as a seamstress by many local factories including Hussco Shoe, Banner Slippers, for 28 years at Katz Underwear Co. and later at Waymart Knitting.
She was a loving mother and enjoyed the company of her friends when she was able.
Surviving is her son Mark J. Dorsey and wife Denise of Greenfield Twp., PA; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four brothers Raymond Tallman, Walter Tallman, Guy Tallman Jr. and Thomas Tallman.
A Blessing Service will be held on Thursday at 11AM at Hessling Funeral Home, 428 Main St. Honesdale. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

George J. Dorsey Jr., 103 E. Drinker St. Dunmore; formerly of 134 S. Cameron Ave was pronounced dead on arrival Sunday at Scranton State General Hospital after being stricken ill. Born in Scranton, son of the late George J, and Loretta McAndrew Dorsey Sr., he resided in the Keyser Valley section of the city most of his life and was educated in city schools. Prior to retirement in 1978, he was employed by Dunmore Borough and was a member of St. Mary of Mount Carmel Church, Dunmore. Suryiving are two sons: Mark, Honesdale and Brian, Mount Cobb; a brother Donald: a cousin, Alice Degnal, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be beld Wednesday at the convenience of the family from Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Ave., with Mass of A Christian Burial in St. Mary's Church. Interment, Cathedral Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday 7-9 p.m.
