Mrs. U. Sherman Grice
Mrs. Alice A. Grice, 89, died on Sunday at 12:40 a.m. in the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. D. H. Shumate, in Marion Township, E. Fairground Rd. She had been ill for two years. Her husband, U. Sherman Grice, died on June 6, 1928.
Born on June 29, 1870, in Richland County, she was the daughter of Samuel and Mary Spriggins Mowery. On Nov. 8, 1893, in Bellville, she married Mr. Grice.
A Marion resident for 54 years, she came here from Bellville. She was a member of Forest Lawn Presbyterian Church Circle 3 and the Loyalty Bible Class.
Surviving are her son, Thomas Grice of near Marion: her daughter, Mrs. Myrtle M. Keirns of the Marion Township address; 14 grandchildren: 47 great-grandchildren, and a brother, Charles W. O'Dowd of 263 Hane Ave. A daughter, Mrs. Faye Crabtree, preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. in the Schaffner-Denzer Funeral Home on E. Center St. The Rev. F. E. Kline, former pastor of Forest Lawn Church, and the Rev. Paul D. Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Marion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home.
