met his wife when he went to Huron, KS.
They were living in Oklahoma in 1910, and he was back in Huron, Atchison Co, KS in 1915, after her death.
His headstone lists his middle name as “Weelo”, which seems to be a mis-transcription somewhere along the line.

JOSEPH W. McCUNE
Joseph W. McCane of Elkhart, Kans. passed away early Sunday evening, Feb. 18th, 1934. Death was caused by a sudden heart attack.
Mr. McCune was born in Brownsville, Pa., July lst 1871 and grew to manhood there. He then went to Huron, Kansas, where he met and married Miss Mary Martin. Dee. 21st, 1900.
To this union four children were born. Three daughters Florence, Vera and Emma. A son, Joseph Richard, died March 14, 1918, at the age of eleven.
In 1903, Mr, and Mrs. McCune and family moved to Tyrone, Okla. On April 17th, 1912 Mrs. McCune passed away.
In 1920, Mr. McCune and children moved to a farm southeast a Elkhart, where he resided for seme time. The last two years be has lived nerthwest of Elkhart and maintained a real estate office in town.
Joseph W. McCune is survived by his three daughters, Mrs. Geo. Plank of Springfield, Mo., Mrs. Ralph Halderman of Manter, Kans., and Mrs. Carl Davis of Huron, Kans. Two brothers, Louis McCune of Valley Falls, Kansas and James McCune of Hazelton, West Virginia. One sister, Miss Emma McCane of Huron, Kansas. He is also survived by four grandchildren.
No more we see him riding back through the gates that lead to home.
No more we'll hear his horse's boofs after the day's work is gone,
Home will be lomely now to us since father has gone away,
Tho he is not dead he has only where mother is today.
