Death1807, Monmouth Co, NJ
Misc. Notes
Barbara Carver Smith lists his birth as abt 1775/1780 and his death as bef 1850, apparently based on his marriage record and the 1850 census.
New Jersey Tax Lists 1772-1822 has only 3 Conrows in Monmouth Co. -
* Levy in Shrewsbury Twp 1779 thru 1796
* Jacob in Shrewsbury Twp 1794 & 1808, Dover Twp in 1796
* Luke in Middletown in 1806.
The 1793 Militia Census of males 18 to 45 lists only Luke and Jacob Conrow in Monmouth Co. - likely that one of them is his father IF he was born in Monmouth Co.
"Deborah Woolley married, first, Dec 22, 1799, William Conrow; second, Mr. Conrow" - Historical Miscellany by Stillwell. His wife remarried Levi Conrow (a brother?) in 1807, indicating that he may have died before then.
Unable to find who his parents were: An early CONARROE GENEALOGY 1454-1966 by John Linerd Conarroe 2nd (LDS film#046131, item 1 from Gerry Livers) indicates that a Conarroe family originated in Venice and may have subesequently migrated to England and then to America. It provides documentation to link it to the Mathew Allen history. It is possible, although no information has been found to show that William could be descended from the widow 'Conaroe' who married Mathew Allen in England. Matthew Allen remarried and came to US before 1678 with at least two stepsons Isaac and Jacob Conaroe and possibly Daniel (who went to the West without issue according to information compiled by Deborah J. Cooper; and whose five children are: Abraham b. 1689, Richard b. 1691, John b. 1693, Isaac b. 1695 and Ann b. 1697 according to Janet Palo). In "A Genealogical Dictionary of New Jersey" - Matthew left three shillings apiece to Isaac and Jacob Conorow (Conaroe) and to .... The first two were sons of his wife. In 1699 Jacob Conoroe deeded land given him by his "father-in-law" (step-father) Mathew Allen in 1683. Shrewsbury Twp was formed in 1693.
(info from Fred Campbell)
There was a Darling Conrow from Perth Amboy that married a Sarah Compton from Middletown in 1761. Isaac Conaroe died in New York around Staten Island, in 1771, which is right across from Monmouth County. In 1790 census there is a Darling Conaroe and William Conaroe living in Dutchess County, New York.
Aubrey Conrow(#610) said that the family history is that the Conrows are Welsh.

Misc. Notes
Bill Conrow found a LDS fiche (0-0953, p. 23,067) which lists her birthdate as 2 Dec 1776 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth Co, NJ but that is in contradiction to the Woolley history I received from Barbara Carver Smith saying it was 3 Mar 1781 based on the Stillwell reference and her burial record.
Married to William Conrow by Garret Longstreet, Justice of the Peace. Married a second time to Levi Conrow, according to the above book. Her marriage to Levi only 8 years after marrying William leads me to believe that William died and his brother married her to raise the family. Marriage to Levi was done by James Allen, deacon of the Methodist Episcopal Church. At the time they were both living in Howell Twp.
Listed with Levi in 1830, along with her son John and his wife. There was also a 5-10 girl in the household, but it is unclear whether she is Deborah’s dau or granddaughter.
Buried in Old First Methodist Church in West Long Branch. It lists her date of death as 5 Dec 1838 (age 77 yrs, 9 mos, 2 days, which puts her birth as 30 Feb 1761?)
