Misc. Notes
He was exceptionally talented but, got lost in alcohol along the way of his life. He put up the money and insisted his sister Gertrude go to nursing school. He was in the Army during WWII (24 Aug 1942-2 Dec 1945). He was first married to Katherine H. Dubbard on 22 May 1943 in Chicopee, MA at the United Presbyterian Church; and was divorced on 5 Jul 1955 in Grafton, N.H. - he was living in Calais at the time.
When Walt married his second wife, Ruth Eva Roberts on 1 Oct 1959, she was a tough task master and she made him toe the line. Because of Ruth he was able to teach English up in Arookstook County. He began writing again. Like Mark Twain, Walt could make painting a fence a fascinating story.
