John married Ann Combs, daughter of Benjamin and Charity Combs, on 2 Oct 1823 in Belmont Co, OH at the Plainfield Meeting House. He had 3 children and lived in Richland Co, OH -100 miles away from his parents in 1833.
In 1850 he was married to Rachel (b. 1813, OH), and living with her two children (Adna-male, 12 and Jane - fem, 10), their son Lewis D. Chambers (10) and daughter Eunice (1) and her in-laws from her previous marriage to a Mr. Lewis.
