Misc. Notes
Benjamin Morris (1813 NJ - after 1875 Santa Anna twp, DeWitt Co, IL).
He was taxed for land in Howell NJ in 1840. It is believed to be the land previously owned by his father, William. He apparently disposed of the land in 1841 as no listing appears on the tax records from 1840 through 1844.
He worked iwth a William and Ann VanNote Mark in running th ePoor Farm of 42 paupers in New Jersey. While believed to be a relative, have not found recors that tie Benjamin in with this William and Ann VanNote Mark.
He is listed as Morris Vannote (34, NJ) a laborer, and a boarder in the home of William and Ann Vannote Marks in 1850.
Benjamin M. stayed behind in NJ until after 1850, but he joined the family in IL before 1854. Benjamin M. on 10 Oct 1854 in DeWitt Co, IL, md Elizabeth CANADAY (1 Jan 1812 PA - 4 Jan 1873, age 61y,3d, bur Farmer City Cem), and they lived in Santa Anna twp.
He is listed in the 1865 Illinois state census with 1 male and 1 female over age 50.
They had no children recorded on census records. It seems likely either or both had been md before.
