Isaac N. Downs
Burgess Isaac N. Downs, of West Newton, died Thursday night after and illness of eleven weeks from diabetes. The funeral took place this afternoon at 2 o’clock. Rev. Chrissman officiating.
Deceased was aged 70 years, one month and 26 days. He was born in Fayette county but had lived in West Newton for 38 years. He followed the real estate and insurance business and for several years operated a hotel. He was one of the best known men in the Youghiogheny valley and was very popular. He was a man of large physique, at one time weighing as much as 310 pounds. He was a genial disposition and made friends wherever he went. He took and interest in church affairs, and was a member of the Methodist church at West Newton. He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Mrs. T. D. Gardner of this city, who were at his bedside when the death messenger came.
