By 1885 her family had moved from Iowa to North Dakota (territory), where they are listed as Evan Davis (42, NY) a blacksmith, Lizzie A. (35, PA), and children Walter (15, IL), Cora B. (13, IL), Addie M. (11, IA), Roy (8, IA) and Grace (6, IA) all students.
Grace (16, IA) is listed in the 1895 Minnesota state census in Minneapolis, with her mother Mrs. E. Davis (47, PA) and siblings Walter J. (25, IL), Cora B. (23, IL), Addie M. (21, IA), Ray V. (18, IA) and Ettie (7, MN).
Listed as Grace Davis (26, IA) in Anoka, MN in 1905 a High School teacher, parents born in NY and PA.
She married Dwight Tallman, a Presbyterian minister in 1907, and the moved a lot as a result while raising their family.
In 1940 she was widowed (60, IA) and living with her son Clare in Colorado. It shows that she had completed college and was living in St. Paul, MN in 1935.

By 1880 his parents had moved the family to Cincinnati, OH, and by 1900 they were in Chicago.
Living in Hot Springs, SD in 1910 with his wife of 3 yrs Grace (31, IA) and son David B. (2, IL). Then in Slayton, Murray Co, MN in 1918 when he registered for the WWI draft, and for the 1920 census with their 2 sons as a Presbyterian minister.
They had moved again to Newport, KY by 1930 where he and Grace are listed as age 50 an the two boys are in college.
He was cremated in Minneapolis and has a cemetery inscription of VET. SP. AM. WAR, having served in the 1st Illinois Infantry.
