He drowned when he fell into the Minam River.

Angler in Minam River Is Drowned
Imbler, May 5 - H. D. Tallman, a barber of Union, was drowned Sunday evening in the Minam river. He and his wife, with friends, spent Sunday fishing in the Minam above the dam.
He went swimming and it is believed suffered cramps, as the water, although very cold and swift, was only four feet deep. Physicians worked several hours but could not revive him.
He is survived by a widow and an adopted daughter.
