“I remember he used to tell tall tales also to us children and my grandmother used to tell him not to say such things. One time he told us that we were direct descendents of Sitting Bull and my sister Becky argued with the teacher that it was true. Another time he said he had an uncle who was lazier than a home soldier and when he died they cremated him, put his ashes into an hour glass, and to this day he is still working.”
Died at the Eagle Lake Nursing Home and was buried in the Ashland Municipal Cemetery.

Misc. Notes
Grace Daggett had the nickname of Date or Datie as a young child. She lived to be 97 years old, and was 4'9" tall with grey eyes and auburn hair.
She was a spunky little Irishwoman who could freeze one in their tracks just by looking at them. I remember my grandfather saying, when gram got mad at him, "I would freeze when she would turn those cold grey eyes on me." I remember she would rub her nose and tap her foot when she got aggravated.
My grandmother tells a story of her father Harry who liked the women. Harry had a girlfriend and he used to take her on a buggy ride on a certain road every Saturday. His wife Wilhemina evidently got fed up with this one day and dressed the children in the worst looking rags she could find. Then she and the children went to this road that Harry used and stood there while he drove by with his girlfriend. Gram never said what happend after that but I assumed he was not pleased.
