Her first husband, George Murphy died, then she was remarried to Robert L. Curtis in New Brunswick in 1912 while living in Smyrna Mills.
She ran a boarding house for the railroad men in Houlton, Maine. In the 1920 census, they have two boarders living with them.
They were retired and living in Houlton in 1940, with Maria still helping with a boarding house, and they had a servant girl living with them.

Mrs. Maria G. Curtis, 75, died Friday In Portland. She was born at Oakfield, the daughter of Hugh and Matilda (Chambers) Robb.
Mrs. Curtis is survived by a son Graydon Murphy of South Portland and a daughter Mrs. Anna Amsden of Clearwater, Fla. Funeral services will be held at St. Marys Catholic Church Mon 9-12 with the Rev, M. F. Tierney officiating. Interment will be In the Linneus cemetery.
