Nathan's daughter Rebecca's marriage certificate says he was born in Groton.

In June 1812, while residing at Milton, VT he volunteered by enlisting in Highgate, VT and served two tours of duty in the War of 1812. Nathan was discharged after his second enlistment in Plattsburgh. After this service he returned to Milton and on 5 Oct 1815 married Minerva Hill at Georgia, VT. His marriage certificate lists his residence as Milton, Chittenden Co, VT. Minerva was the daughter of Reuben and Rebecca Hill and was born at Georgia about 1799. A Heman Hill served in the War of 1812. Following this service Heman Hill returned to Georgia and, on 15 March 1816, married Charlotte Cook of Milton, VT. Charlotte was a sister of Nathan Cook.
Listed in the 1840 Georgia VT census near the Hill and White families with:
male 1 < 5, 2 = 5-10, 1 = 10-15, 1 = 15-20, 1 = 20-30, 1 = 40-50
fem 1 < 5, 1 = 40-50
When Nathan Cook left Georgia, VT, he sold his land to a William Cook, who has been traced back to the Henry Cook line of Wallingford, Connecticut.
During the 1840’s the Cook’s and Hill’s migrated across the ice of Lake Champlain to Chateaugay, NY.
1850 census for Chateaugay lists Nathan (56) and Minerva (49) with their children: Nathan (22), James (18), Samuel (16), Malinda (14), Martha (12), and Prentice (9).
The 1860 Chateaugay census lists Nathan Cook born in Mass. and married to Mary, listed with two children: Samuel age 24 and Prentice P. age 19.
Nathan (75) is listed in the 1870 census with Minerva (71) and their son Reuben with wife Margaret.
Nathan died on 16 Jan 1875 and Minerva died on 17 April 1886. Both died at Chateaugay, NY and are buried at Sandy Knoll Union Cemetery.
