cont’d from page oneā€¦.. struck the “speeder” and hurled it from the track. The machine striking Mr. Black in the head and on the left side. The boy ran to his father’s side, and asked if he had been badly injured. The victim moved his head from side to side and the boy then ran to the Lore City depot and called for Dr. Arndt. Before he could return his father was dead. The ribs on the left side had been crushed and there were a number of wounds on the back of his head. The body was removed to the home of the family and Coroner Rowles was notified.
The funeral will be held in the Presbyterian Church at Lore City, of which Mr. Black was a member, Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock.
James Black had been employed on the B. & O. road for a number of years, starting as a section hand and was promoted to the position of foreman of the Lore City section. He leaves a wife and one son; three brothers, John and Samuel of Lore City, and Grant Black of Cambridge; four sisters, Mrs. Amanda Perry of Zanesville, Mrs. Margaret Lane of New Concord, Mrs. Mary Wells of Canada, and Mrs. Emma Swank of Lore City. He was a cousin of Mayor Oldham, of Lore City, and also a brother-in-law of Prosecuting Attorney Enos, and a cousin of Mrs. J. A. Beam, both of Cambridge. Mr. Enos was notified of the death Sunday and went to Lore City.
