Phyllis Smith
Mrs. Phyllis Smith, 63, of 544 Jefferson Ave., died Friday at home after a lenghty illness. Her husband, Gerald, died in 1974. Born in Scranton, daughter of the late Joseph and Leopoldina Hirschler Sporer, she was a member of St. Marys Assumption Church and its Altar and Rosary Society.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Suzanne Ciscoe, Denville, N.J.; Mrs. Geraldine McDonald, with whom she resided, and Ms. Christine M. Smith, Shawnee-on-the-Delaware; a son, Michael Joseph, Norristown, Montgomery County; two brothers, Joseph A. and Donald E. Sporer, both of Kahogan Estates, Madisonville; a granddaughter, Jennifer Lynn Ciscoe. She was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy, and a brother, Edmund.
The funeral will be Monday from the August J. Haas Funeral Home, 202 Pittston Ave., with Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Marys Church. Interment, parish cemetery. Viewing, Sunday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northeastern Pennsylvania.
