Wilson enlisted 18 May 1864, as a Private in Co B of the 132nd Regt Indiana Volunteer Infantry and was discharged 7 Sept 1864. He was described as being 5’ 8”, 150 lbs with blue eyes.
In 1880 they were living in Center Township North, where he was a farmer (43, KY) and listed as Willson Welles (indexed as Weller) with his wife Maranda (33, IN) and children Anna M. (14), William (11), Maud (9), Bertha (7), Robert (4), and Forrest their son 2 mos old, born in March.
Living on 28th St in Indianapolis in 1900, listed as an Ice Dealer with his wife and dau Forest, with 5 of their 6 children still living.
In 1910, just he and his wife are listed in the household, with him still being listed as a driver for the Ice Co.
He died at his home 2536 Indianapolis Ave, Indianapolis IN of “rheumatism of heart”

Her name is listed as Maranda on the marriage record, and her birth as 14 Nov 1848 on her death certificate.
Charles W. Wells signed an affadavit for her widow’s pension application in July 1914, stating that he had known Wilson since he (Charles) was a boy, and that he was now age 60. In 1920, following her husband’s death, she is listed in the Indiana State Soldiers Home at age 70, and curiously, also living with her daughter Forrest's family; and again in the Soldier's Home in 1930.

Mrs. Maranda Wells To Be Buried In Crown Hill
Mrs. Maranda Wells, age eighty-six, who has lived in Indianapolis more than sixty years, died at her home, 2459 North New Jersey street, Wednesday. She had been ill for several months.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Planner & Buchanan mortuary at 3 pm Saturday, with burial in Crown Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Wells was the widow of William Wells, who died twenty-one years ago. She was born in Morgan county. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Maude McCoy and Mrs. William Overstreet; two sons, William Wells and Robert Wells, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Zadel M. (McCoy) Whiting, with whom Mrs. Wells lived.
