In 1880, he is listed as an unnamed infant, two months old; however his death record lists a birth date of 3 Apr 1879.
He is the only child listed with his mother at age 21 in the 1900 Kansas census, born April 1879.
By 1910 he had been married 3 years, and is listed as Charlie with his wife Addie and sons Mark and Charles. He was farming. The 1919 plat map for Twp 32 S, Range 5 W shows him as owning to pieces of his father’s land totalling 246 Acres, with Iva, J. P. Blanchat and A. C. Blanchat owning most of the remainder.
In 1920 census he is listed as a farmer in Kansas at age 40 with his wife, 4 sons and 2 daughters. Both his parents were also born in Ohio.
The 1925 Kansas census says that he came to Kansas from Ohio, while his wife came there from Colorado.
He is listed in 1930 as a farmer (51, OH), first married at age 27, with his wife and 9 children.
By 1940 he had moved his family to California, and is listed as a pea picker (61, OH) with his wife and children Daniel, Joseph, Robert and Charles with wife Neva, plus daughter Mary Petty and granddaughter Mary Lee Petty (4, KS) - all of whom were pea pickers as well. Next door is his son Mark with his family of Ruth, two daughters and a son.

COLOPY - In San Jose, Calif., Jan 29, 1952 Charles W. Colopy, husband of the late Julia Adelaide Colopy, loving father of Mark J., Charles A., Daniel, Joseph E., and Robert F. Colopy, Mrs. Lucille Valine and Miss Mary A. Colopy, all of San Jose; Lawrence B. Colopy of Colorado and George E. Colopy of Florida; grandfather of 11 grandchildren. A native of Ohio, aged 73 years.
Funeral service Thursday, Jan 31, 1952 at 8:30 o’clock a.m., from the Williams Funeral Chapel, East Santa Clara Street at Eighth, thence to the Holy Family Church, where mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul, commencing at 9 o’clock a.m. Interment, Santa Clara Catholic Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at the above Chapel Wednesday evening at 8 o’clock, to which friends are invited. Parking provided at 321 East Santa Clara Street.
