In 1910 he appears as Harvey L. Alfords in De Queen, Arkansas as a laborer (28, AR) doing odd jobs, married 6 years and all 4 of his children living with he and his wife Docie (28, OK).
In 1918, when he registered for the WWI Draft, he and his wife were living in Calhoun, Le Flore Co, OK.
He is listed as Harvie and living in Hughes Co, OK in 1930 with his 4 yougest sons, wife Missouri and her son Henry Tankersly. They subsequently moved to California before 1940 and is living with wife "Zura" in Oakland when he registered for the WWII Draft.

Harvey Alford, loving father of Mrs. Vera Sciortina, and Cal, Lois, Horace Alford and Henry Tanksley, all of Campbell, Mr. Francis Alford of Arizona, Jim Alford of Oklahoma, Mrs. Ophelia Dougherty of Oklahoma. Twenty-two grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren.
A native of Arkansas, age 74. Services Sat. Nov. 24, at 1 PM, Campbell Memorial Chapel (Dalring, Fischer, Faber). Interment Santa Clara City Cemetery.
