Isaac J. VanNote married (1st) Tempey Caroline Morgan. He had a child with Caroline and then she passed away. He then married her sister Katherine (Isabell Catherine Morgan) with whom he had several more children.

Isaac Jessip VanNote served in the War with Mexico in Capt Daniel Newcomb's Comp. E, in the 4th IL Volunteers, commanded by Col. Edward D. Baker. He enlisted in Dewitt Co, IL, 12 June 1846 and served until 28 May 1847 at New Orleans, LA. He was 5 feet, 8 inches in height, had fair skin, black hair, blue eyes, and was a farmer. He received 160 acres of bounty land, BLWT 9014, and he later applied for pension on 19 Sep 1887 and received pension C15200. His widow Catherine applied for pension 23 Jan 1894 and received W 9054.
He married (1) on 6 Nov 1851 in DeWitt Co, IL, Tempery Caroline Morgan (18 Aug 1834 IL - 15 Jul 1855, Webster Co, IA), daughter of Stephen and Martha (Morris) Morgan

The pension papers for Isaac J. and Catherine establish that Lawson J. and R.T. VanNote were his brothers. Both had attended the funeral for Caroline VanNote, first wife of Isaac J. Lawson J. had attended the wedding of Isaac J. and Catherine VanNote. Catherine stated she was sister to the first wife. In her application for pension, she included the birth pages from the Isaac J. VanNote bible.
