Married Matthew A. Crane in 1867 and was living in NY in 1870 with him, working on a farm and their 8 month old daughter, Rosa (b. Nov 1869).
In 1880, they had moved back to Wayne Co, PA where he was working as a blacksmith (30, MI) and they had Rosie (10), Franklin (7), and Ervin (11 mos, b. July 1879).
In 1900 they were back in New York with only their daughter Anna D. (9, b. Oct 1890) living with them. They had been married 32 yrs and 4 of their 5 children were still living. In Aug, the Hancock (NY) Herald reported that they lived in Hale Eddy, NY and that he was a blacksmith, operating a travelers home, as there was no hotel there. Also that their children were: Rosa, who married Charles Jayne and living Nichols, IA; Franklin, who lived in Hale Eddy and had a stone quarry; Erwin, who worked at the gristmill in Deposit, NY; and Anna, who was living at home. Further, that Matthew and Samantha were school teachers and had taught school in the west for 14 years with good salaries, including in Kansas where they taught in sod schoolhouses with dirt floors.
They were still in New York in 1910, with Matthew (61, NY) working as a blacksmith and Semantha (58, PA) running their boarding house, and daughter Nina (19, NY) living with them.
By 1920, the two of them had moved to Iowa, where he was running a blacksmith shop.
