from Alice Marie Beard’s site...
"Jacob's heirs are named as William, Mary Jane, Alfred, (John) Harvey, Jacob, and Elizabeth in the Sheriff's Deed that came about as a result of Jacob's stepson/nephew Joseph Hufford, Jr., suing Jacob's widow Mary (Joseph's mother!) and Jacob's children (Joseph's maternal half-siblings/paternal first-cousins). The suit was for the land they all occupied; the land had belonged to Joseph's father, Joseph Sr. Joseph Jr. obtained a writ of fieri facias on February 14, 1842. A writ of fieri facias is a writ of execution. The foundation of the writ is a judgment for debt of damages, and the party who has recovered such a judgment is generally entitled to it. The writ is issued in the name of the
government and directed to the sheriff, commanding him to take possession of the "stuff" for the court to give to the person who was awarded damages.”
