Hilda Loken, 92, Webster, S.D., died Friday, March 11, 2005. The funeral will be Tuesday at 1:30 in Bergen Lutheran church near Bristol, S.D. She is survived by a son, Robert (Beverly), Valley City, N.D.; a daughter, Eileen Halverson, Garretson, S.D.; a sister, Alvina (Albin) Dalager, Norfolk, Neb.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Palmer Loken
WEBSTER - Palmer Loken, 95, formerly of Canton, the father of Mrs. Delbert (Eileen) Halverson of Garretson and a former rural school teacher, died Monday, Feb. 10, 1997, in Webster.
Mr. Loken was born Thursday, Sept. 12, 1901, on the family farm in Lynn Township, Day County, east of Pierpont. He attended District No. 207 country school in Lynn Township and Augustana Academy in Canton. He received his teaching certificate from Northern State College, and taught in rural schools in Day County for nine years.
He married Hilda Johnson on May 29, 1937. They farmed the Loken family farm and retired in 1978. He became a resident of the Bethesda Nursing Home in December of 1995. He was a member of the Bergen Lutheran Church near Bristol.
In addition to his wife and local daughter, survivors include one son, Robert of Valley City, N.D.; two brothers: Dr. Selmer of Newport, Minn.; and Melvin of Valley City, N.D.; two sisters: Mrs. Minnie Sievertson of Miller; and Mrs. Gladys Acker of Fargo, N.D.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Services begin at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bethesda Lutheran Church in Bristol, with burial at a later date in the Bergen Lutheran Cemetery near Bristol.
Visitation begins today from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and continues Friday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Fiksdal Funeral Home in Webster. Visitation will precede services at the church Friday. A prayer service begins at 7:30 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
