Frederick H. "Rick" Gaddis, age 59, of Mount Vernon, died on Monday March 7, 2011 at the Knox Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Rick was born on July 9, 1951 in Mount Vernon to Clyde and Ernestine (Naylor) Gaddis.
He was a 1970 graduate of Fredericktown High School and served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Rick had been employed 33 years as a machine operator at TRW in Mount Vernon.
He was an avid fan of motor sports and participated on the 2008 Pacemakers division III racing team. Rick was a proud grandfather and enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow.
Surviving are his daughter Tonya Gaddis of Mount Vernon; his son Thomas "TJ" Gaddis of Mount Vernon; two grandchildren Anna Gaddis and Wesley Gaddis; brothers Allan Gaddis and Kevin Gaddis both of Mount Vernon and his sister Diana (Scott) Wyman of Fort Wayne, Indiana, nieces and nephews, Darcy (Joe) West, Jamie Gaddis, Jason Gaddis, Nathan Wyman, Alex Gaddis and Rachel Wyman, great nieces and nephews, Clinton, Brett, Jeremy, Kayla, Quentin, Kadle, Keagan and great great niece, Averie.
Besides his parents, Rick was preceded in death by his brother Brian Gaddis.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home where a funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 a.m. where friends may call one hour prior. Pastor Roger Doty will be officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Knox County Joint Veterans Council will follow in Forest Cemetery in Fredericktown.
