Linda C. (Bryant) Wells, 77, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at home surrounded by her loved ones.
Linda was born in Massena, New York on July 20, 1945. She was a 1964 graduate of St. Lawrence Central High School in Brasher Falls. She lived in Brasher Falls, NY before moving to Mitchell, Indiana where she resided more than 30 years before relocating to Cicero in 2022 to live with her daughter.
Linda married the love of her life, James Wells, on September 19, 1964. The loving couple were married for 57 years when Jim passed away.
Linda was a devoted mother and grandmother. She cared for her family like no other. Every weekend her home was filled with grandchildren making memories that everyone cherishes. She loved to cook for her family. Her recipes will continue to provide joy and will keep her memory alive in both her family’s hearts and bellies. Linda always made time for family, friends and children that needed help or a confidant.
Linda was a kind person that loved animals. Linda took in many stray cats and dogs throughout her lifetime making sure that these animals were feed and nurtured. In last few years, she loved to watch Dr. Pol and the Zoo programs.
Linda enjoyed restoring furniture, reading and keeping up on politics. Linda was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell, Indiana, and St Patrick’s Catholic Church when she lived in Brasher Falls.
Linda worked at the Dairy Bar in Potsdam in high school. Linda also worked at two Slipper Factories in Paoli, Indiana and Bombay, New York. Although Linda only worked a few years at each factory, she enjoyed the experience and made long lasting friendships.
She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, James Wells in 2022, by a sister, Nancy Sweet in 2019, her parents, Bernard & Catherine (Brothers) Bryant, and by an infant daughter, Jeanette.
Linda is survived by her four children: Michele (Tim) Wilder of Cicero NY, Ross Wells of Mitchell IN, Eric (Jamie) Wells of Salem IN, and Joey Wells of Mitchell IN; grandmother to ten: James (Kayla) Wilder of Orchard Park NY, Justin (Kristin) Wilder of Clay NY, Jordyn (Nolan) Rogers of Bedford IN, Kayla (Chandler) Watts of Jeffersonville IN, Catherine (Logan) Gore of Springville IL, Jared Wells of Bedford IN, Kody Wells of Jeffersonville IN, Jamison Wells of Salem IN, Jackson Wells of Bedford IN, and Kirsten Sexton of Salem IN; and great grandmother to Gracelyn Watts, Liam Watts, Audrina Wilder, Maitlyn Rogers, Maverick Wilder, and 1 expected in June; six siblings: Karen (Phil) Davis of Brasher Falls NY, Elaine (Dick) Travis of North Olmstead OH, Wayne Bryant of Brasher Falls NY, Carol Snell of De Kalb Junction NY, Fred Bryant of Brasher Falls NY, and Cris (Aggie) Bryant of Canton NY; several brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and several nieces and nephews. She was also survived by her cat Puddy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May 24th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell, Indiana. Burial will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 23rd in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Mitchell, Indiana.

MITCHELL – James Arthur “Jim” Wells, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at Sidney and Lois Eskenazi Hospital in Indianapolis.
Born June 10, 1943, in Potsdam, New York, he was the son of Basil C. and Theda (Fadden) Wells. He married Linda C. Bryant September 19, 1964.
James retired from General Motors with 36 years of service. He was previously the assistant fire chief and member of the Brasher-Winthrop Fire Department. Jim was past president of the Tri-Town Minor Hockey League. As a major participant, he coached and performed maintenance. Jim loved old farm tractors, cars, tinkering in the garage, and hanging out at the Deers Inn. His biggest love was his family and he had a special relationship with each of his grandchildren. Jim has been a great caretaker for his wife. Jim was a funny guy and liked to joke. He was a 1962 graduate of St. Lawrence Central High School. Jim was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brasher Falls and St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mitchell.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 22, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jegan Peter and Deacon Dave Rising officiating. Burial will be at a later date.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Monday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
