Stephen Lane.
Stephen Lane died of consumption at Freehold on Sunday of last week. He was 54 years old.
He was a veteran of the late war and was wounded in battle. He was born at West Farms, near Farm-
ingdale, and in 1808 moved to Freehold. After the war he started a grocery store at Freehold and continued this business until poor health compelled him to giveup active work.
He had been confined to the house the last few years of his life. His wife was Miss Sarah VanCleaf of Turkey. She and a son and daughter survive him.
