Edith Grice wrote that she was from Ireland, and came from the "South". Their marriage record is Affidavit #748, pg 251 (dated 1 Aug 1870) and marriage was on 3 Aug 1870 by Reuben Evart, Justice of the Peace. In it her last name was listed as "Beans", not Bean as I had previously!
1880 census lists her parents as being born in Virginia.
She is listed with her children Herman, Iva and Louis in the 1900 census.
1920 census lists her as 72, living with the family of her daughter Iva M. Durbin.
At her 80th birthday party, given by her daughter Iva Durbin there were 18 families represented, including my grandparents (news clipping).
In 1930 she is listed as widowed and age 82 with her son Herman and daughter Iva plus her 2 sons.
Death Cert gives her date and place of birth, death and burial. It says she was a widow, housewife and died of capillary bronchitis, with senility as a contributory factor. It lists her last name as Beans as well. Info was from Iva Woodward of Bellville.

Misc. Notes
Edith Grice wrote that he was Irish and a Quaker. His middle name is written Kosciusko in the Murphy history from Eulala Woodward, and as Kosiosch in another record found earlier. Their marriage record is Affidavit #748, pg 251 (dated 1 Aug 1870) and marriage was on 3 Aug 1870 by Reuben Evart, Justice of the Peace. His brother Henry Gaddis gave the affidavit of age and eligible status.
The 1870 census says they were married in May. His purchase of land from his brother William Jasper Gaddis in 1878 is recorded as a Warranty Deed, and was referenced by Ernestine Gaddis (no copy).
Listed in 1880 Census Jefferson Twp, Richland Co as a farmer with an employee living in the household. His land purchase from Sherman N. Painter- executor of Daniel Thrush in 1882 was also referenced by Ernestine Gaddis (no copy).
The notice of his death in Mansfield News says that he died at his home near Walnut Hill (a suburb of Mansfield), age about 54 years, and survived by 4 sons and 4 daughters - it was not on microfilm and too fragile to copy in June '94.
His obit in the Bellville Messenger lists his birth and death, funeral service at his home by Rev. E. D. Paulin and interment at the Quaker Cem near Fredericktown - south side of Quaker Rd 1/4 mile east of St. Rt. 13, Middlebury Twp. Survived by 2 sisters and a brother, his wife and all 8 of their children.

Lewis Gaddis died at his home near Walnut Hill Monday, Jan. 22, aged about 54 years. He leaves a wife, 4 sons and 4 daughters. Funeral was held at his home Wednesday, conducted by Rev. E.D. Paullin.
