Misc. Notes
Various records list his place of birth as Ireland, Ohio and Maryland. After obtaining the Murphy family history, I am inclined to believe that it was Maryland.
Married by J. V. Richardson, Justice of the Peace (also listed in IGI). Listed in 1840 as being in agriculture. He was living next to his father Henry: male: 1=10-15, 1=50-60 female: 1=50-60. Listed in 1850 with $2,500 of real estate. An 1851 letter from John Carr to his brother James in Ireland mentions that David is troubled with asthma. Another letter that year from his mother to James says that David has had poor health for 8 or 9 years, due to a cold settling in his lungs. 1860 lists him as (53) a farmer with $7,000 land, $1,600 pers property along with his wife and 7 children. The 1870 census lists him as being born in Ireland and being a citizen. He is listed with his wife and daus - Louisa, Julia and Sarah as a farmer with $14,400 of land and $1,500 of pers property.
I had his death as 27 Jan 1872, but the cemetery listing says it was 27 Feb 1872 at age 64 yrs, 10 mos, 21 days. Since his 6 Mar 1807 birth is already in agreement with the age, I have not changed either date. Based on his will being written 4 Jan 1872 and filed 5 Feb 1872, I judge the Jan date of death to be accurate! He willed the house, furniture, animals, 80 acres, etc to his wife and to:
Julia E. Mary and Sarah O. the right to live with thier mother while single
Jane A. McDaniel $800 + $200 to her heirs ($50 of which is for Edward)
Effa Anetta, dau of Cornelius G. Gaddis, $40
Wm J. Gaddis $2,800 - to pay his taxes
Henry M. Gaddis, 38 Acres where he lives, $400
Lewis K. Gaddis $2,500, to pay taxes on 40 Acres and get half the grain.
Julia E. Mary Gaddis $1,867
Sarah O. Gaddis $1,400
All to receive no money until after the death of his wife, except in case of sickness.
Executors: Wife, Rachel; sons, Wm J. and Henry M. Witnesses: Joseph D. Haven, C. V. Morrow.

Misc. Notes
Obituary says she died in Bangor, Jefferson Twp, Richland Co with date of death 17 July 1876 at 61 yrs, 11 mos, 26 days. It lists her as Rachel Geddis. Her death record is also recorded at the Richland Co Courthouse. Cemetery records says she died 17 July 1876 at 61 yrs, 11 mos, 26 days and is buried in the Quaker Cem near Fredericktown.
Edith (Grice) Wells wrote that they came directly from Cork, Ireland, and the Murphy family history supplied by Eulala Woodward confirms that she was Irish, but not first generation. All earlier data is from that history.
