Listed in 1880 census as a Lumber Dealer, age 60 as the owner of Buchanon and Smock Lumber Company in Asbury Park where he worked. He may have played a significant role in the design and construction of much of lost historic Asbury Park, in particular the Victorian hotel circuit. Wife, Susan J. Wikoff (45 NJ), dau’s Elizabeth W. (19, NJ), Anna V. (17, NJ), Lida C. (13, NJ) and son Henry W. (10, NJ).
